A KCA official told IANS that even though no official decision has been taken in this regard, the general impression among the central council members of the association is that Srinivasan should go.

“This is a serious issue. Members of the central council are informally talking about his resignation,” said the official who did not wish to be identified.

There are 31 members in the general body of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, and if the detractors of Srinivasan manage to get 24 votes, it will be curtains for him.

“If there is an emergency meeting of the general body of the BCCI, then the central council members of the KCA will meet and the association secretary will be sent to participate in that meeting,” the official said.

Meiyappan was arrested last week for his alleged role in betting during the Indian Premier League matches, making it the most high-profile arrests in the case till date.
