3 killed, one hurt after being hit by unidentified vehicle

Three people died and one person sustained serious injuries after an unidentified vehicle rammed into them on Indapur-Baramati Highway on Monday night.

The accident occurred at a time when the four victims had taken a break from digging a borewell on the farm of one of the deceased and were resting along the roadside.

The incident took place near Nimsakhar Village on Indapur-Baramati Road at 11.45 pm. The police said the three who died on the spot were residents of Nimsakhar and were identified as Rajendra Bhanu Gore, Mohan Bondre and Sanjay Bhonge. The injured was identified as Sala Tantu.


“Gore had a roadside farm and borewell digging work was being done on Monday night. Bondre, Bhonge and Tantu were helping Gore in the work. At 11.30 pm they decided to take a break and rested along the roadside. An unidentified vehicle that was on its way to Baramati ran over them around 11.45 pm,” Police Inspector Santosh Patil of Walchand Nagar police station said.

While Gore, Bondre and Bhonge died on the spot, Tantu was rushed to the nearby hospital by others working on the borewell. A case was registered against the unidentified driver under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Motor Vehicles Act. u00a0
