A college student from Kalyan suffered severe injuries after a Kalyan Municipal Corporation (KMC) bus hit his bike as he and his friend were on their way to Haji Malang Dargah on Saturday. According to police, 20-year-old Himanshu Singh was driving his bike with his friend on Malang Gad road when he was hit by a KMC bus, MH05R472.

While the cops at the scene first took him to Shree Swaroop hospital in Kalyan, due to lack of facilities at the hospital, he was soon shifted to KEM hospital. Himanshu has suffered injuries on his right leg and hands.

His friend, who was accompanying him, had noted the bus number and informed the cops at Manpada Police Station, after which an FIR was registered.

Recounting the incident, Himanshu, said, “I saw the bus coming towards me at speed and I moved the bike to the corner of the road to let it cross us.

However, the driver still ended up hitting my bike. I was unconscious and looking at my condition even my friend collapsed. We were taken to a nearby hospital in Kalyan where my friend was discharged after an hour and they moved me to KEM hospital due to my injuries.”

A doctor from KEM hospital said, “He has shown slight improvement after three bottles of saline. He will have to undergo an operation for the broken bones in his leg.”
