Few facts about great cartoonist Mario Miranda

>> Miranda lived in his 330-year-old ancestral mansion in Loutolim, Goa. 

>> He started his career in an advertising studio. His work appeared in MiD DAY,
The Illustrated Weekly of India, Femina, Economic Times and The Times of India.

>> He was offered the Fundacao Calouste Gulbenkian Scholarship, which enabled him to travel to and stay a year in Portugal.

>> After a year in Portugal, Miranda travelled to London, and spent five years there, learning as well as doing
cartoons for newspapers.

>> After five years in England, Miranda returned to Mumbai and started working with The Times of India.

>> He has illustrated numerous books including Inside Goa by Manohar Malgonkar, A Family in Goa and The Open Eyes by Dom Moraes.

>> He was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2002, and Padma Shri in 1988.

>> His own books include Goa with Love, A Little World of Humor, Sketch Book, Germany in Wintertime, Impression of Paris and Mario de Miranda.
