Korea Open: Saina, Kashyap, Sindhu enter Round Two
India's top Indian shuttlers Saina Nehwal, Parupalli Kashyap and PV Sindhu entered the second round of the season-opening Korea Open Premier Super Series yesterday
In the women’s singles opening round, Olympic bronze-medallist Saina, seeded third, beat Thailand’s Sapsiree Taerattanachai 17-21, 21-9 21-19, while 17-year-old Sindhu avenged her defeat to Indonesia’s Lindaweni Fanetri, against whom she lost in the final of the Syed Modi Grand Prix Gold in Lucknow less than a month ago, winning 22-20, 21-16 here.
In the men’s singles, World No 14 Kashyap beat England’s Rajiv Ouseph 21-19, 21-16.
Saina next meets Singapore’s Mingtian Fu while Sindhu takes on Thailand’s Porntip Buranaprasertsuk, and Kashyap faces seventh seed Yun Hu of Hong Kong.
