Tennis icon Leander Paes is going through a rough patch in his life post his break-up with partner Rhea Pillai and the legal battle for custody of his eight-year-old daughter Aiyana.

The Champions Tennis League (CTL) seems to be a blessing in disguise for the 41-year-old. Paes, who is part of the Punjab Masters franchise, said: "Right now, I am right at the crossroads of life where I am affected both personally and professionally.

There are lots of responsibilities and I have to make sure that I fulfill those to the best that I can and then move forward. It's very tough to strike a balance between the two.
"One cannot control when adversity comes to you, but what you can do is control how you react to it. I try to be the best I can be in all walks of life," said Paes at the Premier Tennis League (PTL) trophy unveiling ceremony at Bombay Gymkhana on Saturday.
The Premier Tennis League will be played at the Deccan Gymkhana (Pune) from November 27 to December 3. Paes said that he is looking forward to playing CTL matches with some non-stop Punjabi music.
"I am looking forward to play for Punjab Masters. It will be really good to play in front of a Punjabi crowd," he said.
