Jalpaiguri (WB): A leopard was killed today after being run over by a speeding truck on NH-31 at Poro Basti in Alipurduar district of West Bengal.
Forest officials said the animal came under the vehicle when it was crossing the highway. The carcass has been taken to Rajabhat Khaowa for postmortem, officials said.

It is suspected that the truck was travelling at a high speed on the highway in Buxa Tiger Reserve where all vehicles are asked to ply at a lower speed for the safety of the wild animals in the vicinity.
The truck driver has fled with the vehicle after the incident.
