Leopard kills woman in Thane

On Friday morning, 25-year-old Sulabha Ganesh was killed in a leopard attack near Akloli village in Thane while she was collecting firewood in the forest near Vajreshwari with a neighbour.

While the woman accompanying her was able to run to safety, by the time she got help, Ganesh had succumbed. Deputy Conservator of Forest (DCF) Thane GT Chavan confirmed the reports and informed Ganesh's family, consisting of her husband and three year-old son, that a compensation of Rs 2 lakh will be allotted. Two cages have been installed at the site to trap the leopard.
