England made a confident start to the one-day leg of their tour Down Under, reducing a Cricket Australia XI to 133 for four after 30 overs this morning.

In a 12-a-side warm-up ahead of Sunday’s series opener in Melbourne, England matched four of their chastened Ashes squad with eight new arrivals and were quickly into their work at Sydney’s Drummoyne Oval.

Liam Plunkett and Adil Rashid both struck in their first overs of the trip, the former finding home skipper Matt Renshaw’s edge for 25 and Rashid picking off Jake Carder for 16.

Both Plunkett and Renshaw were born in Middlesbrough, with the England seamer once tutored in maths by Renshaw's mother.
Moeen Ali, who suffered more than most in the 4-0 Test series loss, bowled with great control and had CA's top-scorer Travis Dean caught at cover for a run-a-ball 62, while England skipper Eoin Morgan ran out Jake Doran.

There was an injury scare for Jason Roy, who cut his little finger attempting a sharp catch gully, but he returned to the pitch after treatment.
