Still from Meri Durga
The makers of the popular TV show, Meri Durga, were in for a rude shock when they reached the set on Monday morning to find all the lighting equipment stolen from Katharsis studio in Powai. Producer Pradeep Kumar lodged an FIR at the Powai police station, alleging that equipment worth over R5 lakh has been stolen.
Talking to mid-day, the producer recounts that the entire unit, including lead actors Srishti Jain and Paras Kalnawat, were shooting till late night on Sunday. "Once the pack-up was called, the entire team left at 10 pm. Next day, when the team reached the set at 9 am, they were shocked to see that all the bulbs from the lights had been stolen. Never has such an incident occurred on the sets of our show," he says.
Stating that the cops are investigating the matter, he adds that the theft has resulted in a loss of over R5 lakh for the production house. Fortunately, the production house had insured the set fearing any possible mishaps. "It is a norm; we always insure our sets completely," says Kumar, adding that the studio had witnessed a similar episode during the shoot of another show, Ek Veer Ki Ardaas Veera.
