So, you’ve been bitten by the photography bug. Do you reach for the camera when a cake, oozing with chocolate lava, is placed in front of you at a restaurant, or do you stop to take a selfie when you spot a colourful backdrop?

Now, improve your pictures with Camera Magic: Insider tricks for dramatic pictures with photographer Sahil Mane at The Art Loft on February 15, 16 and 23.
“I will teach the participants three to four techniques that they can use to tell their story better,” explains Mane, a Juhu-based photographer whose art show Orgasm has won two international awards.

The techniques include light painting, multiple exposure, free-lensing and the Brenizer method. “Photography presents an interesting blend of technical skill and artistic visualisation. In this workshop, participants, both semi-pro photographers and enthusiasts, will learn to use these techniques to add magic to their visual storytelling.” The best part about the workshop is that you needn’t own a high-tech camera — any camera that has a manual mode will do. “For me, I believe it is about making pictures not just taking them. One should use the frame as a canvas,” says Mane.

However, it will surely help if you do know the basics such as ISO, aperture and shutter speed. “The last day of the workshop is almost a week later, so participants can go back home, try the techniques, meet roadblocks and come and discuss them,” concludes Mane.
