Local derails on Mumbai's Harbour line, services hit
A Mumbai suburban train on the harbour line derailed between Guru Teg Bahadur Nagar and Wadala Road stations on Tuesday evening affecting peak hour services.
One coach of a suburban train derailed on the harbour line on Tuesday evening delaying train services by half an hour.
According to a note issued by Central Railway, one coach of the V-40 (Vashi-CST) harbour line local derailed between Guru Teg Bahadur Nagar and Wadala Road stations near Signal no.11 at 16.23 hrs. Initial reports indicate none of the passengers were injured.
The derailment though has affected evening rush hour services with trains on the harbour line likely to be behind schedule by around 20 to 25 minutes.
The note further said that the cause of the derailment seemed to be a huge bundle of clothes dropped on the track, apparently by a trespasser.
Officials said that harbour line traffic had to be diverted via the main line as power lines were switched off as a precautionary measure.
