While tennis is revered for its excitement and charismatic players, the game also garners attention for its on-court fashion. Tennis apparel has come a long way from conservative long skirts and full-sleeved shirts for women, and trousers and T-shirts for men, to stylish shorts and dresses. Even at the recently concluded French Open, players were seen sporting an eclectic mix of colours and designs. And now, all eyes will move to Wimbledon that begins on June 24, where player

Maria Sharapova. She is known for her bold choices on the court and this goes well with our brand’s bold, confident and sophisticated style.

Fashion blunders...
Over accessorisation. It’s a sport and wearing chunky accessories is forceful and makes the player come across as someone trying too hard to make a statement.

For men, we would like him to wear a pastel blue. A small collared T-shirt and longer placket with accents of white around the edges of the collar and placket. The bottoms can be classic knive-pleated shorts with accents of white on the edge of the pockets.
For women, an A-line skirt with a big box pleat at the back with a linear V-neck T-shirt, cut close to the neck with a continuing placket, modestly deep with cap sleeves. The entire look must be in a pastel sweet rose pink.

Andy Murray. He has a very classic sense of style. Even though the classic British dressing works for him, he dresses slightly preppier, and not to forget that curly ginger hair that adds character to his personality.

Fashion blunders...
I think the visibility of the underwear line on court looks very unappealing for male players. Also, close-fitted T-shirts with synthetic fabrics is a big no-no. It would be better to wear slightly loose clothes, keeping in mind the pace of the game. It compliments each player better.

Designs for Wimbledon...
Since it is right in the middle of summer, whites are perfect and classic. A hot trend this season is prints; basically, apparel in overall minimal prints. Playing around with prints is a great way to dress at Wimbledon this season. I also find combining shades of white and off-white as chic.

Experimental and bold...
The tennis player who oozes appeal and can carry off any shade from bold colours to classic whites on the courts is Serena Williams.

If I were to design an outfit it would be in peach, light pink or light blue. For me, at Wimbledon, a colour block statement for the attire is the design of choice. This could be a peach skirt with a white T-shirt/top with maybe a light pink trimming.

You would like to design for...
Maria Sharapova as she looks stunning and is equally fabulous at her sport. She dares to experiment and still stays classic in her dressing.

Fashion blunders...
Too much detailing can kill the look. One needs to understand the sport and outfit functionality and decide on focal design points rather than making a bizarre fashion garment.

Staying true to classics, a smart pleated box skirt and sleek vest with interesting back detailing. For guys, white T-shirt with panel detailing and shorts with fabric blocking in white will be attractive.u00a0
