The police on Monday arrested a man for the murder of a young woman whose body was found in the Millennium Park in south-east Delhi on April 23. The woman had been murdered brutally and the murderer had intentionally taken away her belongings to conceal her identity. "The father of the deceased had told us that his daughter had a five-year long affair with a man named Jitendra. When they (her family) got to know about her relationship, they got her married in Aurangabad, Bihar. But even after marriage, Sadhna was constantly in touch with Jitendra over phone," said a police officer.
The cops then detained Jitendra and during interrogation he confessed that he had killed Sadhna because she was bothering him too much and was pressurising him to marry her.

"Jitendra told us that Sadhna had left her husband and had come to Delhi to marry him. He then asked her to stay at his friend's place in Ghaziabad for a few days, but Sadhna continued to pressurise him. So on April 23, he called her to Patparganj area with her baggage and from there they went to the Millennium Park," the officer added.

Jitendra had told Sadhna that he would marry her in the Millennium Park and stayed with her there till 9 pm. However, a guard on duty told them to leave the Park in night. "Though they went out of the park at that moment but returned and climbed the railings to get back into the Park. Then Jitendra put some vermillion on her head to give her a feeling that they were married. After that he pulled out a knife and killed her. Before leaving the park, he took away all her belongings so that nobody could identify her," the officer said.
Jitendra had a diploma from ITI and was working as a plumber in Mandawali area.
