Lighthouse 13 is a mall eatery and we are not particularly fond of eating inside malls, preferring stand-alone joints. The idea is a mall eatery is a place where you drop in when you get too tired shopping! A stand-alone eatery is where you go with the singular purpose of eating. But these are old-fashioned ideas and Lighthouse is not an afterthought. As it turned out, the owners have put some thought in doing it up. From the plush sofas to the dim lights, the place has a unique 'feel'.
We ordered our Jacks and then flipped through the impressive menu. The smoked chicken salad which is cold smoked chicken, crispy bacon, apples and assorted lettuce with mustard dressing proved to be a good starter for the evening. But we wanted some more starter to compete with our heavy drinking! So in came Mezze Hummus, that is sun-dried tomato hummus, baba ganaush, Avocado dips, Lamb kibbeh, and a whole lot more!
For the mains, we ordered a roasted duck which is served with tomato orange sauce and a grilled salmon which was a lip-smacking dish!
All in all, Lighthouse 13 turned out to be rather pleasant experience. Only if we could have figured out if a lazy lover can be a Casanova!
