The late actress Madhubala’s Bandra-based kin are objecting to the telecast of a television show based on her life and times. The show apparently focusses on the personal relationship between Dilip Kumar and Madhubala — especially her torn state between her love and her father Ataullah Khan — which led her to part ways with him. Promos of the show went on air recently and it is due to be telecast later this month.

Madhubala’s youngest sister Zahida, better known as Madhur Brij Bhushan, had sent a letter to the channel stating her reservations about the show and the way her sister will be depicted. This was after she read about a show being planned about the love life of her sister. But she alleges that the channel did not pay heed to her request for a meeting with her. Later she dispatched letters seeking an appointment with the channel head. This too, she claims provided futile as they were returned unsolicited.

Says Madhur, “I don’t want to pick up a fight but at least they should be kind to the departed soul. The makers are refusing to discuss things on a pleasant note. They can at least give a hearing to what I have to say.” The show stars Vivian Dsena, Dhrathi Dhami and Raj Zutshi.

As reported ‘Saira unfazed’ (Hitlist, March 28), when asked about the TV show, Dilip Kumar’s wife Saira Banu had stated that she was aware of such a show but did not want to say anything on that front.u00a0Madhubala and Dilip Kumar sizzled not only on the big screen, but were romantically involved off screen too. The show deals with how their relationship ended on a bitter note.u00a0The channel remained unavailable for comment.
