Deputy Inspector General of Prisons (Eastern Region), Shashikant Shinde, who was promoted in 2010 to the present post, had filed a complaint with Dhantoli Police in Nagpur recently against the officers, including Principal Home Secretary Kailash Bilonkar, the then Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Umesh Sarangi and Mantralaya official R M Deshmukh.

As police did not initiate any action, he moved the court of Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) presided over by A H Kashikar who asked the cops to register offences against the DGP and other respondents after ordering a probe.

The complaint was filed under the provisions of Prevention of Atrocities Act as the complainant belongs to Dalit community and has made allegations that his promotion was delayed because he comes from the backward class.

Hearing his complaint, JMFC, yesterday, directed Dhantoli police to register offences as alleged in the complaint.

Shinde alleged that though he was eligible for the promotion much before he got it but the Departmental Promotion Committee had overlooked his claim and delayed it.

He further alleged that his career was harmed by false reports submitted by his seniors.u00a0
