Briton Danny Webb and German Marcel Schrotter gave Mahindra Racing a rollicking start in the 125cc category in their debut MotoGP season last year. The final round in Valencia saw the team create history as rider Webb clocked the fastest time in qualifying practice and began on pole position.

Schrotter finished 15th overall in the 125cc Rider’s Championship with Danny finishing 19th, while the team finished a strong third in the Constructor’s Championship.

MR recorded its best result of the season at the Australian GP with Webb and Schrotter finishing 10th and 11th respectively. The season also witnessed three more doublepoint results by both riders in the Aragon, Brno and Assen rounds. At the Assen GP in June, Marcel also achieved his personal best, recording a fine 9th place finish.

This year MR are all set to compete in the all new Moto3 class in the MotoGP championship with their MGP3O – a 250cc 4 stroke bike developed in conjunction with Italy’s Engines Engineering.

Needless to say MR are keen on progressing in the MotoGP this season with Team Principal Mufaddal Choonia sounding as confident as ever.

“We feel ecstatic winning the first race of the Italian Championship which is one of the toughest national motor racing championships in the world,” Choonia told MiD DAY yesterday.

Italian Riccardo Moretti rode MR to victory in their debut Italian Championship race, while India’s Sarath Kumar was forced to an early retirement due to technical issues.

“A victory in our debut race is a shot in the arm. We are hoping for a good start at the MotoGP championship in Qatar. Both riders Danny and Marcel, along with the team have practiced hard. We are definitely looking for a good start to the MotoGP season opener,” he added.
