Twinkle's star turnout

It's being touted as the next big book on the bestseller block, no surprises then that the excitement and anticipation for Twinkle Khanna's second book is building.

To be held at the go to destination for Bolly events — the Marriot — later this month, sources say that just like her last book release at the same venue, which saw a star turn out on stage of Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar and Dimple Kapadia, this time around Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor will be releasing the book.

As for the compere, will it be Karan Johar officiating again? As master of ceremonies, Johar's quick-witted repartee, especially with the author who it turns out shared a few traumatic years at a boarding school in the mountains with him, drew much laughter.

"Twinkle's advice to me when I told her I wanted to run away from school was to roll down the hill until I reached the bottom," he'd said. With the success of ADHM, Johar as compere will be in top form we're sure.

Organic honey and artisanal chocolates
Undoubtedly the biggest trend in Diwali gifting was that of food hampers. "There's been much less of traditional mithai sending," said one society matron about the gifts she'd received. "Less dried fruits too," she added joylessly, but then she perked up. "But the assortment of goodies by way of exotic foods was just staggering," she said.

"From organic honeys to homemade condiments to rare wines and spirits to cheeses, artisanal chocolates and extra extra virgin olive oils, it was truly a gourmand's paradise," she exclaimed.

And which according to her were some of the most outstanding Diwali hampers received? "Undoubtedly the one from Adi Godrej, whose hamper of choice delicacies was a real delight — and the hamper received from ITC head honcho Yogi Deveshwar, which is famously described as requiring a small tempo to deliver, is one of the most awaited Diwali gifts amongst the cognoscenti. It's a veritable movable feast," sighed the society matron. "And lasts the whole year round till the next Diwali!" she said.

Twin birthdays
"The interesting thing about having twin brothers is that they often call me at the same time," Says Ayesha (AY) Kumar, Designer, AY Clothes & Accessories, about her twin brothers, restaurateur 'AD' Singh and investment banker 'AR' Singh, who will celebrate their birthdays tomorrow.

"Or they call within five minutes of each other and since their voices, tone and way of speaking are all so similar, it's often impossible to differentiate between them and I often end up continuing the conversation with the wrong twin, which infuriates them to no end." She laughs.

This picture of the siblings was taken three years ago at one of Olive's famous retro night at Mahalaxmi, when the Delhi-based AR happened to be in town. "The great thing about their relationship is that there's no rivalry or jealousy among them and never has been," says the proud sister of the twins on the eve of their birthdays.

Almost better than the original cast
Sources say it was a true blue all-star audience last evening at the final showing of Mughul-E-Azam at the NCPA.

Kumarmanglam Birla, Kokilaben Ambani, Anil and Boney Kapoor with wives, Rajshree Birla, Tina Ambani and Raj Salgaoncar were some of the high profile personalities taking in the wonders of Feroze Abbas Khan's ethereal production. This is one Shapoorji Pallonji enterprise that has got the vote across the board.

All's well
"I'm sending you some images of myself with Thierry Henry, the Arsenal and French football legend," said ace lensman Atul Kasbekar, whose passion for the beautiful game and support of Arsenal football club is well documented. Kasbekar, a self-confessed football fanatic, was given a bonus Diwali gift when a sporting brand asked him to host an evening for the visiting-footballer-now-turned-football-pundit, who was in India as a part of the ISL extravaganza.

"I gave him a super Diwali present that he loved," said Kasbekar. And it was Kasbekar who invited Ranveer Singh to meet Henry, and of course as we can now see from the video which has gone viral, Ranveer met the football legend in his characteristic dramatic style, with considerable cheering and shouting and even touching Henry's feet. But we hear the incident had ticked off Kasbekar, who took to social media and posted, "Gotta love how @gqindia thinks it's ok to quite shamelessly nick my video and palm it off in their timeline w/o a thanks. Most tacky/ uncool."

Quite smartly the publication didn't seem interested in a Twitter spat and quickly mopped the imminent controversy with a "Don't want to turn the heat on some young enthusiastic rep, @atulkasbekar. We thank you for the fun video, Happy Diwali to you" Nice!
