Singer Mamta Sharma has not received any formal training in music. And for the 'Fevicol Se' singer, learning came in the form of audio cassettes.

She told CS, “Before moving to Mumbai 12 years ago to pursue my dream, I was based in Gwalior.

Having not received a formal training in music, I relied a lot on audio cassettes.

I used to listen to singers like Shamshaad Begum, Lataji and Ashaji. Even today, I spend hours singing their songs but I still manage to reach only 90 per cent of what they could with their voice.

The inbuilt emotion they brought to a song was incredible.” Well, practice makes perfect Mamta!
