The Marine Drive police arrested a 33-year-old man for repeatedly raping his 14-year-old stepdaughter, after her grandmother reported the matter. The cops also arrested the mother for hiding the fact.
According to the police, the accused, under the influence of alcohol, used to force the teenager to drink with him and then rape her.
“The family stays in a small hut near the Gandhi Garden at J Tata Road in Marine Drive area. The minor’s grandmother came to know that the stepfather was raping her. She approached us and registered a complaint,” said Inspector Rajendra Patil of Marine Drive police station.

The police said that the survivor’s mother knew that her daughter was being raped by her second husband, but kept mum about it. “The woman’s first husband had left her some 14 years ago,” said the officials.
