Man found hanging from train window

A middle-aged man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a window of the LTT-Darbhanga Karmabhoomi Express at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT), formerly known as Kurla terminus, in Kurla yesterday. Police officials said a Railway Protection Force (RPF) sub- inspector immediately informed his counterparts from the Government Railway Police (GRP) after he spotted the body.

The RPF sub-inspector was patrolling the LTT yard when he discovered the body that was hanging from the window, with a belt around its neck. He immediately informed a Kurla GRP official, who rushed the unidentified body to the Rajawadi Hospital for post-mortem.

Though GRP officials said that primary investigation and ligature marks on the man’s neck indicated suicide, they would be investigating the case further.

“We are yet to identify the person who was wearing a white shirt and a lungi, thus indicating that he was a local. The body was found hanging from a window of compartment number 13740 of the LTT- Darbhanga Karmabhoomi Express on line 7, where the train had been washed,” said an official from Kurla GRP.

He added, “We have taken the body’s picture and are showing it to locals hoping that they’ll identify him. Usually, there is nobody in the yard and considering that it was a Sunday, chances of anyone being there are next to impossible.” u00a0
