A man has been arrested for allegedly beating his wife to death in tribal Sadhli village in the district, suspecting that she practised witchcraft and was responsible for his mother's illness.

Kalu Fulsinh Rathwa has been arrested for beating his wife Kavli to death with a stick on Monday night, police said.u00a0


Kalu was upset that his mother had not been keeping well for a long time. He suspected that his mother fell ill because his wife was practising witchcraft, police said.


On Monday, he beat up Kavli severely following which she died on the spot, they added.


According to police, people from Sadhli as well as from the neighbouring Karali village rushed to the spot after they learnt about the incident and later nabbed the accused.
