Lyons, found guilty of first-degree murder in September 2011 after a six-day trial, beat his mother on the head with a Cognac bottle and stabbed her nine times in the back with two knives.u00a0
He also poured insecticide and drain cleaner on her body as she lay helplessly on the floor, before fleeing the scene. Police, however, caught Lyons at a restaurant a few hours later.
Prosecutors said the man killed her in a fit of rage after she rejected his pleas to arrange tickets to a pop event -- the Avril Lavigne concert.
