Marathi film producer Atul Bajirao Tapkir committed suicide after consuming poison at a hotel room in Pune on Saturday. Before killing himself, he posted a suicide note on his Facebook profile.

According to Atul Tapkir's Facebook post, the filmmaker took the step after being mentally harassed by his wife Priyanka. He wrote in the note that she had thrown him out of the house and didn't let him meet their two kids. He said that his wife's brothers had physically beaten him up too.

According to the FB post, when Atul Tapkir recently got drunk, he had a verbal spat with his Priyanka and that's when he decided that he couldn't take it anymore. He blamed his wife for compelling him to take the drastic step.

He further went on to write that he didn't have the strength to end his life initially, and hence ended up drinking in order to gather courage to consume poison.

He concluded the post saying that he would be sad to leave everyone behind, but he is happy that he will be living with his mother now.

More details on the story are awaited.

Atul Tapkir was a producer of Marathi film 'Dhol Tashe' (2015). The movie, which starred Jitendra Joshi, Hrishitaa Bhatt and Abhijeet Khandkekar, didn't fare well at the box office and Atul had to incur financial losses.
