Masked men attack Bombay Hospital joint director with baseball bat
Two bike-borne masked men attacked Dr Rajkumar Patil, Joint director (Medical sciences) of Bombay hospital, on Wednesday morning.
Patil was out on his regular morning walk with his wife Sunanda when the incident occurred. A police complaint has been filed with Azad maidan police station.
Patil lives in the Bombay Hospital premises and regularly goes for a walk in the morning.
On Wednesday, when he was with his wife near Gol Masjid, two unidentified persons, wearing masks, attacked him with a baseball bat.
According to sources, one of the attackers tried to hit Patil on his head but missed. In a hurry, they then assaulted him two times on the thighs and sped away.
Neither Patil nor his wife could note the bike's number or model as it was parked at a distance and the attackers managed to flee within seconds.
He was immediately rushed to Bombay Hospital for treatment.
Dr Sagar Sakle, spokeperson Bombay Hospital said, "The attackers managed to hit the doctor on his right thigh. His condition is currently stable and he has been admitted in general ward and kept under observation."
