Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) inched towards accepting the Lodha Committee reforms yesterday as the committee finally authorised the draft of the new constitution as per the Supreme Court order dated July 18, 2016.

"The draft constitution is now ready and it will be put for approval in the Managing Committee meeting tomorrow (January 16). It will then be circulated among MCA members for their suggestions or objections. Once we are done with it, a general body meeting will be called to adopt the new constitution," an MCA official told mid-day last evening.

For the past few months, the MCA committee has been deliberating on the draft of the new constitution which is prepared as per the Lodha Committee guidelines.

Once Mumbai adopts the Lodha changes, it will become the third association from the state, after Maharashtra and Vidarbha, to accept the sweeping reforms. An MCA official said it was high time they moved towards accepting the SC order. "Everyone knew that one day we have to accept these reforms. Dragging it beyond a point made no sense. It affected the smooth functioning of the association too. The current terms of the elected Managing Committee and office-bearers were also well overdue," he said.
