The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) yesterday decided to postpone the much-hyped Sunday inauguration of their Kandivli Recreation Centre.
A new date for the inauguration is not yet decided. Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan was scheduled to attend the inauguration function along with NCP chief Sharad Pawar, former MCA president.
The Kandivli plot is yet to receive an Occupation Certificate (OC) — prime reason for postponing the inauguration. The Brinhanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has said it will be illegal if the MCA goes ahead with its inauguration plans without receiving the OC.

The construction has also run into controversy after Mumbai’s mayor Sunil Prabhu accused the MCA of flouting norms and “cheating” Mumbaikars in the name of promoting cricket among the masses.
