Strong contenders for the title, Meenal Thakur of PJ Hindu Gymkhana and Arantxa Sanchis of Pune, easily won their respective semi-final encounters to set up a summit clash in the Ladies snooker event of the Malabar Hill Club-Maharashtra State Selection billiards and snooker tournament.
The vastly experienced Thakur bulldozed her way past Jasmira Anjikar of Pune by a 2-0 margin in the first semi-final. The Hindu Gym cueist did not have to produce her best as she hardly encountered any problems from her Pune opponent to cruise to a comfortable 42-10, 30-28 victory and advance to the title round.
Later, Sanchis showed an abundance of confidence and put to good advantage her steady potting skills to sidelined Neeta Sanghvi of Wellingdon Club by an identical 2-0 verdict for a 55-22, 43-21 victory.
