A mentally challenged woman was allegedly brutally thrashed by her three women neighbours near Kochi, police said on Tuesday

A mentally challenged woman was allegedly brutally thrashed by her three women neighbours near Kochi, police said on Tuesday. The incident occurred at Pallippuram yesterday, they said, adding, an investigation has been launched. Police said the women were provoked by the alleged physical attack on their family members by the woman.

The incident has gone viral and in the footage uploaded on social media, the women are also seen using abusive language at the 45-year-old woman as they beat her
using sticks in full public view, till she falls to the ground.

The woman was admitted to hospital and later discharged, police said. Her husband has lodged a complaint.
