Chhatarpur (Madhya Pradesh): A mentally-disturbed man in Madhya Pradesh’s Chhatarpur district, posed as a doctor by sitting on an unoccupied seat at one’s cabin in a civil hospital on Wednesday. The unknown man also checked patients and gave them prescriptions for half an hour until he was caught.
According to a report in The Times of India, when the imposter was questioned by the civil surgeon, the man advised him to 'see a psychiatrist' and also prescribed medicines to him.

The man was roaming around the Civil Hospital when he saw the room of the mental health programme vacant and sat on the doctor’s chair. Civil surgeon RS Tripathi said that the doctor posted to that chamber was assigned to some other duty, so it was vacant.
As soon as the imposter took the seat, patients came in and he started checking them. In the time the man was in the chair, he checked at least half a dozen patients. A patient Bhalloo Yadav he said that he peeped into the room to find a man who checked him just like a doctor and also spoke to him that way. "I told him I had fever and body-ache. He spoke like a doctor and did not give any impression that he was mentally disturbed, Yadav said, adding that he also gave the man his OPD slip and he scribbled him some medicines.
Anoop Shukla, who works at the medical store of the hospital, was surprised on seeing the prescriptions in red ink. When he asked one of the patients about the doctor checking them and went to the room where he was sitting. Shukla saw the 'doctor' and immediately reported him to the security and senior officials.
Once the imposter was removed out of the room, Dr Tripathi interacted with him and realised that he needs psychiatrc help. "After he was removed from the chamber, I interacted with him and immediately realized that the man. He, in turn, asked me to see a psychiatrist and left my room. He even prescribed some medicines for me before leaving," the civil surgeon said.
