The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has come to the rescue of the elderly. It has opened an Old Age Winter Home for male senior citizens at Govindpuri in south Delhi, as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities.

Open till March 31
The home, which will remain open till March 31, has the capacity to accommodate 45-50 people. The corporation will provide basic necessities such as beds, pillows, blankets, chairs, water dispenser plates, glasses and so on to the occupants.

The facility, being run in association with NGO Help Age India, will serve dinner, breakfast and tea and basic medial assistance will also be provided. DMRC officials will also make periodic inspections to ensure it functions properly.

The DMRC has taken up a host of activities under its corporate social responsibility programme earlier as well. Currently, it is running a Children's Home for boys at Tis Hazari, in association with an NGO named Salaam Balak Trust. Another home meant for girls is being planned near Inderlok.
