The Chennai Super Kings won their third consecutive match to become the first team to qualify for the Champions League Twenty20 semi-finals by beating Brisbane Heat by eight wickets at the JSCA International Stadium here on Saturday.

Chasing Heat’s target of 138 in 20 overs, the Super Kings achieved it with 4.1 overs to spare and bag four points for the win to go top of the Group ‘B’ standings with a total of 12. Brisbane Heat, on the other hand, have lost all their three matches in the tournament and cannot progress to the last four stage.

Put in to bat, Brisbane Heat never really got their act together and kept losing wickets right from the start. In response, the Indian side took off brilliantly with openers Michael Hussey (57 not out) and Murali Vijay (42) putting together 75 runs for the first wicket.

Brief scores Brisbane Heats 137-7 in 20 overs (Ben Cutting 42, Ravindra Jadeja 2-18) lost to Chennai Super Kings 140-2 in 15.2 overs (Mike Hussey 57*) by 8 wickets
