A 22-year-old, who was arrested in the Mira Road call centre scam, will just be in time for her wedding on December 8. She is lucky enough to be one of the four accused, who have been granted bail in the case by the Thane Sessions court.

Rekha Khan’s (name changed) father appeared to be visibly happy as his daughter is finally out of jail and all set to get married.

For some extra bucks
A teacher by profession, Khan had joined the call centre as a dialer, during her summer vacations, as she wanted to earn some extra bucks. She underwent training for 45 days and then worked at the centre for a month. But the day she realised that the entire system was a fraud, she left the job. However, the Thane Crime Branch arrested her as she was initially found to be guilty during investigations.

Order on Dec 3
Advocate Ashma Sayed and advocate Reshma Kakade, who defended the girl’s case said, “She was called in for interrogation many times in the past 45 days. Her parents were shocked when she was arrested on November 30, as they were expecting the bail order.”

Kakade added, “Though the bail order was released by the court on December 3, Khan was let out of jail on Tuesday after completion of the formalities.”

All is well
Speaking to Mid-day, Khan’s father said, “It’s god’s grace that my daughter is out of jail. Everything was in a mess, but now the situation is normal again. How could she have thought that her wish to earn some money for the wedding would land her in such a soup.”
