We need independence from Congress if India has to develop,” Modi said. “Even Gandhi wanted to disband Congress after Independence. …We got to rescue India from Congress, its allies and brokers,” Modi added. In his address, Modi also appealed to the youth voters for their support and promised them employment if elected in 2014. “The youth should decide that they want to live a life of dignity and vote for a government that can give you employment,” he said.

On Wednesday, Modi targetted Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, and accused his government of laxity towards implementing employment and skilled manpower schemes. "He (Dr. Manmohan Singh at an earlier meeting of the National Development Council) said that our focus area is skill development and later he said that we would target 500 such projects to achieve the goal. When it was my turn to speak I said, dear Prime minister what are you saying, China is talking of 50,000 and you are talking of 500 only," Modi said, speaking at the inauguration session of National Skill Development Conference in Gandhinagar.
