While the cream of international cricketers are busy turning out for their franchises at the Indian Premier League, college-level cricketers from India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka are indulging in 'cricketainment' in the Red Bull Campus Cricket at Colombo Cricket Club here.

India is being represented by Mumbai’s Rizvi College, who were champions Campus Cricket’s India leg. After playing a round robin league that concluded yesterday, Rizvi College and Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology of Pakistan qualified for the final to be staged today.

Rizvi College beat the Pakistani outfit by 11 runs and then defeated Colombo University by 55 runs to top the group. Pakistan eventually made it to the final by virtue of better net run-rate on the penultimate day of the three-day tournament.u00a0

Siddesh Lad’s brilliant 89 for Rizvi College against the Sri Lankan outfit earned him praise from former Pakistan skipper Moin Khan, who is accompanying the Pakistani students as coach. “Many of these players are really good.

The shots they are playing are really impressive, they need more opportunities,” felt Moin. Rizvi qualified for the South Asia final, currently underway, beating Jain University of Bangalore by five runs earlier this month and booked berth for the final here. Meanwhile, Mumbai cricketer Swapnil Salvi has been picked to train with Urmston Cricket Club in Manchester for a period of 22 weeks starting May. u00a0
