Monk held for abducting, raping 14-year-old

A monk was arrested on alleged charges of abduction and rape of a minor girl from Dhantala in Nadia district, police said today.

Rabindranath Mondal(48), a resident of Taherpur Rail gate area, abducted a 14-year-old girl from his neighbourhood on Tuesday.u00a0

An anti-rape protest

Police rescued the girl and arrested the man Thursday.

Mondal's wife was also arrested for colluding with her husband in the entire incident, they said.

Daughter of a hawker, the victim was sent for medical examination, police said, adding that further probes are on. u00a0
