Suvarna last appeared for the SSC exam in 1990 but she couldn’t clear Maths and Science. With encouragement from neighbours who are teachers and the owners of a coaching class, Suvarna applied for the SSC exam much to the surprise of her son.
She has enjoyed the process so far and is all geared up for the History paper today and Geography on Thursday. Suvarna said, “Initially I was stopped from entering the exam centre and had to show them my hall ticket. I had to apply using my maternal surname Dangat as my school leaving certificate has that name.
I couldn’t have done this without the support of my mother-in-law and husband. My neighbours, the Gholaps, helped me fill the form and encouraged me to give my internal exam at Anusaya Vidyalay in Manvelapada village. My son was surprised, and I did this to take some pressure off him.”
Ashutosh said, “I was surprised that my mother is giving her SSC with me. I did not tell my friends as I was shy. However, after one friend found out, the news started spreading. I am very proud of my mother. She started her preparations late and studies till 2 am every day. She gets up early for her
chores and later we study together.”
“I am very proud of my wife. Both my son and she study together and they have my full support,” Suvarna’s husband Ashok, a police constable, said.u00a0
