Pune-based industrialist had given the model Rs 1.1 crore to start a spa in Bandra; she refused to share profits with him, allegedly siphoned Rs 54 lakh
A 28-year-old model and Gladrags Mrs India 2010 finalist has been arrested by the Bandra police for cheating a Pune-based industrialist of R54 lakh. The industrialist had given her R1.1 crore to open a spa in Bandra and she had allegedly siphoned off nearly half of it.

Sources said the accused, Sangeeta Chintu Chatlani, a resident of Bangkok, was the third finalist in the 2010 edition of the Mrs India competition. The victim is Jagdish Sasane (48), an industrialist from Pune with interests in tyre remodeling. An official from the Bandra police said, “Sasane had purchased a new flat in Pune and held Satyanarayan puja in January 2013, which was conducted by an astrologist, Hitendra Ingle.
After the ceremony, Ingle told Sasane that he had a good contact if Sasane wanted to start a new business in Mumbai and gave him Chatlani’s number.” “Ingle also gave Sasane’s number to Chatlani and she contacted the industrialist with a suggestion that they could open a spa in Bandra. They reached an agreement and, in June 2013, Sasane gave her R1.1 crore to open a spa named ‘Oceana’ in Bandra (West).”
Chatalani, however, was allegedly not giving Sasane his share of the profits and an audit conducted by him revealed that she had siphoned off Rs 54 lakh. Sasane said, “It was a 50-50 partnership and Chatlani hadn’t invested a single rupee. When I asked her about the money, she refused to return it.”
Following the refusal, Sasane filed a complaint of cheating at Bandra police station in February this year. “We carried out an investigation. Chatlani was arrested for a R54-lakh fraud on Friday and she is in police custody. We also sealed Oceana Spa. Hitendra Ingle is also an accused in the case, but he is still at large.”
