MSRDC to close Mumbai-Pune expressway on Friday afternoon

Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation Limited (MSRDC), on Friday will close the Mumbai-Pune expressway stretch between Khandala and Khopoli in the afternoon for maintenance.


The maintenance work, which will start on Friday, involves removing the loose boulders between the stretch using the 70-meter long crane is expected to go for a week,


According to the officials, the work will start from Friday afternoon between 12 pm to 4 pm. A block of one hour between the above mentioned timings will be taken and during this time, the expressway between Khandala and Khopoli will be closed for traffic.


While the lights motor vehicles will be diverted via the old Mumbai-Pune highway between Khandala and Khopoli, the entry of heavy motor vehicles and commercial vehicles will be completely banned.

Earlier the authorities had plans to close onlyt one or two lanes of the expressway, but fearing that the boulders might accidentally hit the vehicles, the authorities decided to keep the expressway section closed between Khopoli and Khandala.
