Meerut: A 35-year-old cloth merchant from Mumbai was shot dead by three unidentified miscreants near a private college here, police said today.
Police said Mohammed Shahid, a resident of Bandra in Mumbai, had came here on Thursday for business purpose. He was staying at a hotel near Suraj Kund.

After finishing his work, Shahid was on his way to airport, when he was shot dead by the assailants last mid-night, they said.
Preliminary investigation suggests that it could be work of some known person, police said, adding, body has been sent for post-mortem and no complaint has been filed by the victim's family til now.
