Continuing its inspection drive across the city, the BMC sealed the food courts of R City mall in Ghatkopar West and Link Square Mall in Bandra West for serious fire safety violations. It has also issued notices to six theatres - Sion PVR, Aurora Talkies in Matunga, Shanmukhanand Hall in King's Circle, RNA Cinemax in Kalanagar, Rajshree Theatre, and Imax Wadala - asking them to comply within 15 days.

In the last couple of weeks, civic officials inspected 54 malls, issuing notices to 37, and 40 theatres. The officials also checked basements at 58 places, sealing 12 of them. BMC chief Ajoy Mehta has also asked the zonal deputy municipal commissioners and ward officers to keep a check on the action being taken against illegal constructions.
A senior civic official said, "The DMC and ward officers will verify the action taken by officials against unauthorised constructions. If they find any violations, they can initiate action against the officials concerned."
