27-year-old Rekha and her husband Rajbhar were a couple who had regular fights. But she never thought he would shoot her in her derriere. While the reason for the fight that led to this butt-ugly altercation is still unknown, it appears that the couple fought regularly and Rajbhar’s reaction was the culmination of yet another fight.

Son spills beans
Initially, to hide his role, Rajbhar, a mechanic, told the Tulinj police that while they were returning from the Vasai Killa on his bike at around 9.15 pm, he had to make a pit-stop at the Treehouse School near the Court Road for his 7-year-old son to take a leak, from where his wife suddenly emerged and pointed to the blood from her backside. He claimed that he immediately rushed her to a nearby government wherein the doctor told him that the injury was due to a stone hit and released her after giving her first aid, however, when he later took her to the Golden Park Hospital — where she is currently admitted and is critical — the doctors found the bullet and operated on her. The hospital later informed the Tulinj police. The police stumbled on the real story only when the couple’s son spilled the beans during investigation.

Cop speak
“Based on his statement, we have now arrested the accused and registered the case under section 307 of IPC and section 3, 25 of the Arms Act. While the firearm is yet to be recovered, the accused has been produced before a court and remanded to police custody till December 15,” said API Sudarshan Poddar from Tulinj Police Station.
