A nine-year-old girl was injured after a car passing by quashed her against the wall near the main gate of her housing society in Navi Mumbai's Kalamboli on Tuesday.


A report published in The Times of India, said the girl, identified as Sakshi Singh has been undergoing treatment in the MGM Hospital at Kamothe.


According to the police, the girl’s father has not filed a complaint against the driver of the car. The driver, who works as a teacher told police that he would be bearing the hospital expenses of the girl's treatment.


The police said that even if the father files a complaint, the driver will be immediately granted bail as he cannot afford to hire a lawyer for court case proceedings because he is poor. The police have charged the driver with dangerous driving under section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act, taking suo motu cognizance of the offence.

The police added that they have recorded the father’s statement, but as he has not filed a complaint against the driver, the latter cannot be arrested.
