An old enmity between two cousins resulted in a serious fight leading to the death of one. The incident occurred in Dahisar East. The police have registered a case of murder and have arrested the accused.

According to officials from the Dahisar police station, the deceased, identified as Rahul Kurade (22) used to stay with his family at Jana Market Road. Until a few months back, he was employed at a local wine store.

On the fateful day, he had gone out to meet his friends when he bumped into his cousin Suraj Pawar near the local fish market at Dahisar Gaothan.

“The two had a history and didn’t see eye-to-eye. It wasn't long before they got into an altercation. Things quickly got out of hand and turned into a full-blown fight.

Suraj started punching and kicking Rahul in his abdomen,” said Prakash Jadhav, senior inspector, Dahisar police station.

Meanwhile, someone informed Rahul's family members and his father, Shyambabu Kurade, rushed to the spot only to find his boy lying on the ground. He whisked his son to the nearby Karuna Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The cause of death was mentioned as “shock and haemorrhage due to multiple injuries.”

The father of the deceased filed a police complaint against Pawar, which later led to his arrest. “We are investigating the case and trying to find out the reason for the enmity between the two and what triggered the fight,” the officer said.
