Ajay Indrajeet Singh was angry with his father for pampering his 28-year-old brother more than him; he stabbed his father, hit his brother and tried to attack his mother
Jealousy of his ‘pampered’ elder sibling got the better of a 24-year-old, who fatally stabbed his father, hit his older brother and tried to attack his mother yesterday.

Police officials said Ajay Indrajeet Singh (24), who had completed his BSc last year, was angry with his father Indrajeet (55) because while his brother Jaiprakash (28) was pampered and got what he wanted, he wasn’t treated the same way. Ajay had, in fact, attacked Jaiprakash with a knife two years ago as well.
Around 5.30 am yesterday, Ajay went to the kitchen of their house in Shakti chawl near IIT Powai, and began heating a knife he had bought recently. He came out of the kitchen and made a move to attack his sleeping mother, but Indrajeet intervened.
Ajay stabbed his father in the stomach and then injured his brother and himself in a scuffle for the knife. His mother, meanwhile, had fainted from shock. The entire family was rushed to Hiranandani Hospital, where Indrajeet, who worked at a transport company in Wadala, was declared dead from stomach wounds. Both Ajay and Jaiprakash were being treated for minor injuries while their mother was getting treatment for shock.
Police Inspector (administration) Babasaheb Gaavte of the Powai police said, “Jaiprakash was loved and pampered a lot by his father, who gave him everything that he wanted. Ajay was unhappy about this, despite his father giving him Rs 1.5 lakh last month when he had asked for it. Ajay had attacked Jaiprakash on the head with a knife two years ago as well.”
A neighbour said, “Ajay had completed his BSc last year and wanted to study further. He had asked for nearly Rs 1.5 lakh from his father last month and had got it. He then asked for some more money, which his father refused, and he was angry about this.”
Ajay was arrested and taken to Andheri general lock-up. A case has been registered under Sections 302 (murder), 307 (attempt to murder) and 326 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons
or means) of the Indian Penal Code.
