A man was allegedly killed by a group of persons following an argument over payment of Rs 125 for an ice cream in suburban Andheri, a senior police official said on Monday. The incident took place at around 8:20 pm yesterday near a dairy situated at Yadav Nagar under Sakinaka police station in Andheri, senior police inspector Avinash Dharmadhikari said.

The deceased has been identified as one Muzzamil Shaikh (40), said the official. A case of murder and rioting has been registered against ten persons of which four of them have been arrested from different locations in the area today, said the official. Dharmadhikari said police have launched a hunt to nab the other accused.

Among those arrested are three brothers -- Mujahid Sultan (23), Jaheed Sultan (21), Mobin Sultan (30) and one Sohab Shidiqui, the official said. Mujahid and his friends had gone to the dairy where they bought some ice cream. The accused were reluctant to pay the bill and some previous dues. Thus, when the shopkeeper asked them to pay an amount of Rs 125 they started arguing with him, the official said.

One Muzzamil Shaikh (40), who was standing nearby, intervened in the matter and allegedly slapped Mujahid, said the police official. This led to an altercation between the accused and Shaikh, said Dharmadhikari. The accused assaulted Shaikh with wooden sticks. He was severely injured in the attack and was rushed to hospital where he was declared death after admission, the official said.

The shopkeeper, who tried to rescue Shaikh, also sustained minor injuries in the attack, the official said. Further investigations are underway, he added.
