A 29-year-old old man allegedly raped a 22-year-old maid inside a car in the wee hours on Tuesday, after she turned down his proposal for marriage.
According to police officials, the survivor worked as a maid in a house in Colaba. The accused, identified as Dalla Yadav, had proposed marriage to her. An officer from Colaba police station said, “The survivor, who is married and has two children, rejected his proposal. Angry and keen on exacting revenge, he committed the crime.”

When the woman stepped out of the building to throw out some garbage, Yadav drove up and forced her inside his car. His friend Raju Valmiki was also in the car. “After forcing her into the car, he drove the vehicle to a spot nearby, where he raped her. When he stepped out of the car to purchase some tobacco, Valmiki took the opportunity to molest her,” added the officer.
The 22-year-old woman, a native of Pune, later reported incident to the police, and an FIR was registered against the duo under sections 376 (rape), 354 (outraging modesty), and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.
