23-year-old Akshay Kolambkar, who is in judicial custody, claims he was only tucking his shirt in when the woman saw him in the lift with his trousers around his feet
Tucking his shirt inside a lift proved costly for a 23-year-old delivery boy, who is now behind bars for outraging a woman’s modesty. While the incident occurred on Tuesday night, a complaint was lodged against Akshay Kolambkar on Saturday. He was arrested soon after and produced in the local court yesterday.

Agripada cops say they are probing Akshay Kolambkar’s claim as the complainant stated that even his undergarment was out of place
An official from the Agripada police station said the 50-year-old complainant is a doctor’s wife and the couple resides in the same building on Saat Rasta where the incident occurred.
“On the night of the incident, the woman had come down to discard garbage. She was shocked to see a partially nude man inside the lift after it reached the ground floor where she was waiting for it. The delivery boy panicked and fled the spot after she screamed,” the officer added.
After reaching home, the woman informed her husband about the incident. After contemplating, the couple finally approached the Agripada police on Saturday and narrated the entire episode following which an FIR was lodged under Section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code against an unidentified person.
Probe on
The police established Kolambkar’s identity by going through the visitor’s book at the society and managed to obtain the name of the firm he worked for after scrutinising the CCTV footage. They located the on-demand food delivery company and obtained Kolambkar’s details from its manager following which Kolambkar was arrested on Saturday evening from Agripada. The woman identified him during the identification parade. A school dropout, Kolambkar resides with his uncle in Parel and had joined the firm a few months ago.
Accused says
“The accused told us that he visited the Saat Rasta building on Tuesday night to deliver pizza. While coming down, he decided to tuck-in his shirt. But by the time he could finish, the lift reached the ground floor and its door opened. That’s when he panicked and his trouser slipped out of his hands. This is when the woman saw him and screamed,” said another officer.
He added that Kolambkar’s claim is being probed because the woman in her complaint had mentioned that both his trouser and the undergarment were pulled down.
