The city — sliced, diced and served with a dash of sauce

Not such a little band of boys after all
At the Catholic Gymkhana’s traditional Carnival festival held at Marine Drive last week, marking the feasting before Lent begins, we saw a surprising new entry on the performance scene.

The music scene, to be precise. And this was no contest-winning singer or some such, but a group of boys, students of St Mary’s High School in Mazgaon, all between the ages of 11 and 12.

The boys, who call themselves The Big Band Theory, came together some six months ago and have been performing at school events, and at the Carnival they belted out some winning numbers. Most of the boys are being formally trained in music, and show great promise of making waves on the city’s music scene.

The band members are Brendan Alphonso (Keyboard / Vocals), Mehrad Faramarzi (Guitarist), Aayush Murdeshwar (Guitarist), Zayne Chaves (Drums / Keyboard / Vocals), Ishaan Chainani (Vocalist), Kushank Thacker (Vocalist), Enrico Rodrigues (Saxophonist / Keyboard).
